Since her divorce, Yoon-hee has lived in the countryside with her teenage daughter Sae-bom. When Sae-bom finds a romantic letter written to her mother by Jun, a Korean-Japanese woman who went to school with Yoon-hee long ago, she senses her mother's deep loneliness and plans a trip to the snowy Japanese town of Otaru, where Jun lives.
